The 5 Predictions we all got wrong

By Matt Marsden on Fri, 16/07.2010

5. Carlton to have no avenue to goal

The loss of Brendan Fevola left very few ways for them to find the big sticks but between Setanta O'hAilpin, Eddie Betts, Jeff Garlett, Chris Yarran and Lachlan Henderson, Carlton have benefited from 109 goals.

4. Fremantle to struggle

The Dockers were tipped to not move far from their previous ladder position but so far in 2010, Fremantle have taken the competition by surprise and the influence of some young key players, most notably the now injured Michael Barlow, they sit fourth on the AFL ladder.

3. Adelaide as serious top four contenders

Adelaide looked a team that were going to really challenge for the 2010 Premiership but a 0-6 start to the season due to injuries to key players left the Crows wounded and stunned on their feet.

2. Brisbane to be a dominant force

The inclusion of some great pickups over the pre-season added what Brisbane was missing, at least for the first four rounds. It has gone straight downhill since then as Brisbane have won just one of their past ten games. Finals are looking very doubtful for a team that was predicted to dominate.

1. Richmond to go winless

The Tigers looked as though they weren't interested on the field when they were nine straight losses without a win, but Richmond have taken the AFL world by surprise and have won five of their last siz matches and now have an outside chance to shock the competition and make finals. Young forward Jack Riewoldt has been inspiration in Richmond's past six games, kicking a total of 33 goals and currently leading the Coleman Medal.
