NO MORE losers this weekend

So here we stand as historical timelines are resculpted and legacy stories are written for the new generation to share and hand down.
In AFL history there has only been 2 previous Grand Final matches that have resulted in a draw:
1948 - Essendon vs Melbourne (Melbourne won replay)
1977 - Collingwood vs North Melbourne (North Melbourne won replay)
Now almost precisely 30 years later as though it was destined to occur, the saying "history repeats itself" shines truth for all and 3 decades later another generation of footy fans get to experience a ground breaking second battle between the 2 finalist teams. In true tradition of the AFL code the teams will battle it out once more in a rematch, extending the season by an extra week.
The faces in the stands when the siren rang were of dismay and gloom, the MCG had one of the biggest crowds in the stands of the season with over 100K fans flaunting their colors. Each man, child and woman with an allocated budget in the back burner for their hot pies, cold drinks, game day merchandise, travel expenses not to overlook the price paid to be in the stands for the big day and effort made to secure entry.
Sports fanatic ritual and culture dictates that a true patriotic fan will chuck a few dollars down on their team to bring home the trophy. Some just have a quiet friendly punt, but this time all the bookies were smiling when that siren rang.
By default all wagers were null and void and the punters left filled with uncertainty about the destiny for their team.
The costs invested into making the "granny" a special day more than any other in the season will occur a second time and another patriotic stand will have to be made to show true spirit and patriotism for your favourite team as well as the best sport on earth, Australian Rules Football.
We will never know the undisclosed revenue the bookies took home or what the average punter dropped to be shattered with no clear outcome, but here at The Big Tip we know the feeling all to well.
