Fantasy Footballer Award - Round 1

By Footy Utopia on Thu, 07/04.2011
Dogmat gives player votes based on their performance in both DT & SC, value for price, expectations, selection popularity and other fantasy footy factors.

Carlton v Richmond
5 – Bryce Gibbs (Carl)
Huge score for a backman. Had added captaincy pressure and came through for coaches using loophole.
4 – Ed Curnow (Carl)
Any time a rookie surprisingly scores 107/118 (DT/SC) he is going to make coaches happy.
3 - Kade Simpson (Carl)
Underrated fantasy footballer and a great difference player for those who selected him.
2 – Mitch Robinson (Carl)
The best bargain player in this game.
1 – Marc Murphy (Carl)
Just pips Cotchin’s (who was great value) given his 127 was the 7th highest score in DT.

Geelong v St Kilda
5 – Corey Enright (Geel)
The forgotten man and inspiration behind the “Enright Theory”. How can he be left as a difference player?
4 – Harry Taylor (Geel)
Have to respect the 142 SC score. Don’t like his chances of repeating.
3 – Jimmy Bartel (Geel)
With his 114/127 he did it in both competitions. Overcame a last start to come back.
2 – Nick Dal Santo (St K)
Provided better value in both competitions than Lenny.
1 – Brad Ottens (Geel)
The old warrior defied age and a bag of bones as an excuse for a body to score big at a reduced price.

Collingwood v Port Adelaide
5 – Dane Swan (Coll)
The Great Swan is the Fantasy King.
4– Chris Dawes (Coll)
A great reward for those who read the form line from the second half of the season.
3 – Matt Thomas (Port)
Went handball crazy, took a speckie and played well all day. Great value.
2 – Ben Johnson (Coll)
Always the fantasy footy darkhorse. Wound back the clock.
1 – Scott Pendlebury (Coll)
Great performance … but he’s no Gibbs.

Brisbane v Fremantle
5 – Nick Lower (Frem)
Rookie who rewarded the 25% of coaches who selected him. The Dockers have done it again with their rookies.
4– Jack Redden (Bris)
Was fantastic in both competitions. Looks like continuing his late season 2010 form.
3 –Aaron Sandilands (Freo)
Knows Cox is coming to take back his title. And he is ready for the fight!
2 – Nathan Fyfe (Freo)
Looks like he is about to fall over his feet ... but this kid plenty of footy smarts. Looks like being a gem.
1 – Simon Black (Bris)
Nobody more highly decorated in the AFL than this guy. Just a ball magnet.

Adelaide v Hawthorn
5 – Sam Mitchell (Haw)
The best player on the ground.
4 – Phil Davis (Adel)
Had the hardest task on the ground covering Buddy. Not only did he beat him, he also scored 97/101.
3 – Scott Stevens (Adel)
The Crows swingman is known for pulling one of these performances every so often.
2 – Cyril Rioli (Haw)
One of the best performing forwards in the both competitions.
1 – Patrick Dangerfield (Adel)
Snowflake next to his name at half time with 2 touches. Went crazy in the 2nd half and also kicked 3 goals.

Essendon v Western Bulldogs
5 – Jobe Watson (Ess)
Got possessions, tackled hard, kicked goals ... did everything.
4 – David Hille (Ess)
Any time you are in the same conversation with Sandi and Cox you have played well.
3 – Brett Stanton (Ess)
Stanton and Gia on the same ground fighting for the space and uncontested ball. Stanton won.
2 – David Zaharakis (Ess)
Zaka has breakout written all over him.
1 – Dyson Heppell (Ess)
Particularly in SC, the young Larry Bird had a great debut ... all class.

Melbourne v Sydney
5 – Ryan O’Keefe (Syd)
This guys had every coach think to themselves “how did I forget about this guy”.
4 – Luke Tapscott (Melb)
A young Robert Deniro ... yep the Raging Bull.
3 – Jack Grimes (Melb)
Better value than Sylvia ... had plenty of coaches jumping on and repaid the faith.
2 – Colin Sylvia (Melb)
Was good all day.
1 – Nathan Jones (Melb)
All those stickers make him 10% tougher. If only he kicked more.

West Coast v North Melbourne
5 – Dean Cox (WCE)
The old King has returned ... and he wants his throne back!
4 – Robbie Tarrant (Nth)
Only in fantasy footy can you be beaten by your opponent and still received 4 votes.
3 – Cameron Pederson (Nth)
Baptism of fire asked to ruck against one of the legends – especially when you are a backman.
2 – Andrew Swallow (Nth)
Had the pressure of many coaches picked him as a difference and he made them proud.
1 – Andrew Embley (WCE)
Is he still playing? One from the grave...

Leaderboard
5 – Bryce Gibbs (Carl)
5 – Corey Enright (Geel)
5 – Dane Swan (Coll)
5 – Nick Lower (Frem)
5 – Sam Mitchell (Haw)
5 – Jobe Watson (Ess)
5 – Ryan O’Keefe (Syd)
5 – Dean Cox (WCE)
