Kim Duthie - The Can't-Miss St. Kilda Story | Thebigtip

At just 17 years of age, Kim Duthie, more well known in the AFL world as the "St. Kilda schoolgirl" has spent the past year putting the players of the St. Kilda Football Club through pure turmoil. The club has been in the media all Summer and as the year continues to roll on, things are looking quite the same. On Sunday Night, Duthie showed her face on national TV on Channel 9's 60 Minutes, telling her side of the story and revealing everything that has occurred to do with both the club and AFL player manager Ricky Nixon.

Kim Duthie grew up in Frankston and as a young girl, she had no interest in AFL whatsoever. Her interest for the sport grew when St. Kilda players attended a clinic at her school, where she met the players and became infatuated. It was after a game in Sydney when Duthie met with the players and exchanged phone numbers. In doing so, Duthie misinformed them that she was 19 (as a 16 year old). She stated "I thought I had a better chance if I told them I was over 18."

From there, a connection with Saint player Sam Gilbert started up, a relationship in which they had consensual sex. However, Duthie claims that the two were never "dating" as such.

During their time together, Kim Duthie was trusted in Gilbert's home by herself, where she was able to easily access his computer and take personal photos of Gilbert, Nick Riewoldt, Zac Dawson and Nick Dal Santo. Duthie kept the images private until recently.

In May of 2010, Duthie first made claims that she was made pregnant by Gilbert, even going as far as posting images of herself supposedly pregnant on Twitter. As the Saints cut all ties with her, she released the infamous images of star Saints in provocative positions, sending AFL fans into shock.

Her motives were obvious when she stated: "I just want you guys to feel how I felt." If there was any doubt that Duthie's intention was revenge, this puts those lingering thoughts to rest.

Duthie later claimed that she lost the child at five and a half months before coming out to the public and admitting that it was all a lie.

When asked about the pregnancy scandal, Duthie struggled to think of an answer. "I really can't answer that. I honestly don't know why I said it. I was 16, a stupid immature little teenager. Attention is, you know, half the reason as well I guess."

"It (claiming Gilbert made her pregnant) was one of the biggest mistakes of my life."

Despite embarrassing top Saints Nick Riewoldt, Zac Dawson and Nick Dal Santo, Duthie says "I don't think I owe anyone an apology other than Sam (Gilbert)."

As the photo scandal was in full flight, Kim Duthie first came into contact with Gilbert's player manager, Ricky Nixon.

"I've never hated someone that much in my life," Duthie stated when asked about her first impression of Nixon. "I would clench my fists every time I heard his name."

Despite her loathing first impression, Duthie admits that her and Nixon became a couple.

"There was just this weird connection, just that we had hated each other so much.

"Then once we had sort of gotten to know each other, there was a connection between us."

Duthie permanently moved into the Causeway Hotel located in Melbourne in January of 2011, paid fully by the St. Kilda Football Club. This is where Ricky Nixon admits he first met her.

Their relationship started with flirty text messages at first, Duthie stating that she was excited by the "sneaking around". As time went on, Nixon would come over every second day.

The allegations continued as Duthie claimed that Nixon brought both cocaine and alcohol to her room, on top of them having numerous sexual encounters. Nixon accepts that he had inappropriate dealings by going to the hotel, but denies all other allegations.

On the 24th of January, Duthie and Nixon first slept together.

Although Ricky Nixon has refused requests for interviews, he is still contacting Kim. Nixon messaged Duthie, urging her to make a public statement. His words for her to say are as follows:

I want to put it on the record that there was no sex and there was no drug taking. When I told people I had been having sex with him, I never dreamt it would get the coverage it has. I then put together a video that gives the impression that we had sex and drugs.

"He said that the only way that we can be together is if I say this," Duthie said.

Although Nixon claimed that there was nothing going on between himself and Duthie, this text message sent to Duthie's phone confirms his intentions, reading:

We will need to play our relationship carefully but I will definitely give it a go, so long as we don't film or tape each other and you have amazing sex at least twice a day.

When Duthie began questioning whether this is what she wanted or not, Nixon sent this threatening message that read:

If you don't do it (state that the allegations were not true) then not only will there be no future for us, but you will have hundreds of people associated with me who will want revenge on you and that will be for the rest of your life.

After being questioned, chief executive officer of the AFL Andrew Demetriou claims that the players did not break any code of conduct.

Now that all is said and done, Duthie says that she now "wants out," and wants to let the world know "I'm not a slut."

Whatever happens from here, it is certain that what the AFL has witnessed over the past year will be etched in it's history for all the wrong reasons. Kim Duthie, who has all but thrown away all credibility, will struggle to work in her preferred job as a model and more importantly, Ricky Nixon has lost all respect that he has as an AFL player manager. If players know what's good for them, they will be taking their business elsewhere.
