The Pulse Rd 21: A Man, A Plan, A Canal & Panama
By Bryan McCausland on Thu, 26/08.2010
Writing this one from the majestic isthmus of Panama. I have been tasked by the AFL to go hunting for the next Jose Romero (which means they should have sent me to Chile).
The forays into China are getting a lot of press, but from what I have seen over the last few days I think there is a wealth of untapped talent that both the AFL and I can try to persuade to come to Australia.
Along the highways, I was reminded of the visage of the Gold Coast. Indeed, when I saw 20 people beating up a guy, it was akin to Robert Walls ordering his Brisbane Bears to belt Shane Strempel in order to teach him a lesson.
However I also see a lot of people wearing Panamanian hats which make them look like people who prance around the streets of Elwood.
This makes me want to listen to bad heavy metal music.
1 Collingwood = (1) These fellas need a loss this week, otherwise the inevitable loss will happen in September.
2 Geelong = (2) Death, taxes and Cam Mooney shanking a set-shot to the right.
3 Sydney + (4) Quiet achievers. Paul Roos has them cherry-ripe for the finals. Speaking of which, are they still available? They used to be the staple of the footy diet, along with a Crunchie and a meat pie.
4 Western Bulldogs - (3) Rocket proved how unbeatable he is at Scrabble with the following quote: "When he (Adam Goodes) landed on him, he's concertinaed him."
5 St Kilda = (5) Steven Baker describes himself as a bit of an asshole on the field. Off the field his hobbies are rescuing abandoned kittens and playing the banjo at elderly homes.
6 Hawthorn = (6) May as well have called up Glenorchy at half time to get more of a contest
7 Carlton = (7) Rex Hunt's Fishing Show displayed more tackles than Carlton on Friday evening.
8 Adelaide + (11) Almost dead-set certainties for the "Frawley-Wallace" award of best team out of the eight
9 North Melbourne + (10) The travelling roos are positioned right where they should be…. Interstate.

Great article, I love the rating system and some of the humour that goes with it. I reckon you got most of them right but think you have rated the Swanies too.
Look forward to your finals summary. Also it would be good if you did a review of the teams that did not make it, lot's of good material for a laugh.

Do you think Mark Latham has ever fallen face first into the sand holding two long necks and managed not to spill a drop.
@Badabing - The final Pulse
@Badabing - The final Pulse next week will expose the bottom eight for what they are... umm... the worst eight sides... Sydney are in form. More so than the Saints. The early season form has hurt them.
@anon: only if he is able to get the Ko Samet party started on the dancefloor. I know what you did last summer.
