Leicester and Huddersfield The Pick Of This Weekend's Bets

With so many unpredictable results in

likely, including the Manchester Derby between United and City on Sunday, the selections for this weekend's treble come from the lower divisions in English Football, with the following three results all looking good value bets to make up a 10/1 ($10.00) treble:

Championship

Blackpool v Nottingham Forest Draw @ 5/2 ($3.50)

Before Steve Cotterill took over at Nottingham Forest earlier this week, it would have been difficult to predicted this match would result in a draw. However, Steve McLaren’s replacement got off to a winning start midweek, with a resounding 2-0 win against previously unbeaten Middlesbrough and there is no reason why they shouldn’t go to Blackpool on Saturday with the confidence to get a result from the game.

Inconsistency is the only adjective that can describe the form of Ian Holloway’s Blackpool side lately. They opened their October account with a 5-0 thrashing of Bristol City, only to lose 0-4 the following week against West Ham. They managed to grab all three points against struggling Doncaster in midweek after Tom Ince scored an injury time winner.

Blackpool are the favourites to win but neither a resurgent Forest may prove tough opponents and at 5/2, the draw looks the most likely outcome.

Leicester v Millwall Home Win @ 8/11 ($1.73)

Sven Goran Eriksson’s men are on a four match winning streak at home and should have little difficulty in extending that to five against a struggling Millwall team that has won only once in their twelve league matches to date this season.

Moreover, Leicester has not conceded a goal at home for three games and are a team playing with increasingly more confidence each fixture. They looked mightily impressive in their 4-0 win over Derby at the beginning of October and although defeat followed away at Birmingham in their next game, they returned to top form in midweek with a 2-0 home success over Watford. After an indifferent start, the Foxes look to be making strides and their odds have been cut to 7/1 in

the latest football odds

to win the Npower Championship.

Millwall have not won a league fixture since 23rd August and seem destined to fight out a relegation battle for the rest of the season. They will be heartened a little by their 1-1 draw achieved at Middlesbrough last week but Leicester will be a different proposition and the home win looks like a banker!

League One

Huddersfield v Preston North End Home Win @ 10/11 ($1.90)

Huddersfield are the only unbeaten team in League One and come in to this game with some outstanding recent league form. So far in October, they have already achieved two 4-0 away wins, the latest coming against Exeter last week and they also defeated a plucky Stevenage team 2-1 a couple of weeks ago.

They are now showing the form that manager, Lee Clark, expected at the start of the season and should have a little too much in the armoury for an already threadbare Preston side ravaged by injuries.

After a good run of eight wins in nine matches in all competitions, Phil Brown’s team have lost three on the bounce, including a 2-4 reverse at home to Sheffield United in midweek, a result which suggests that Huddersfield will be too strong for the visitors in this match.
