Liverpool are currently struggling in the EPL with their attack. They have arguably the best defence in England but except Suarez and to some extend Bellamy, all their strikers and wingers have failed to score or create goals.
In this scenario what I feel is that, with the transfer window fast approaching, Liverpool should go in for a striker like Edinson Cavani. The 24 year old has been linked with a move to Anfield and these are the 5 reasons that I feel that the striker could be a great addition to the Reds:
1. He will help Suarez...
Luis Suarez needs a partner. Since his arrival in January Liverpool have been highly dependent on the Uruguayan for goals and assists due to the horrendous form of Andy Carroll and Steward Downing. Because of the high pressure and lack of help from his teammates, Suarez has failed to live up to his expectations. Cavani’s arrival will reduce the pressure off Suarez. He is a great finisher and could form a great partnership with Suarez up-front
2. ...Or act as his replacement
As we all know Suarez has been banned for 8 games as he allegedly racially abused Patrice Evra. And now since his ban has been accepted by Liverpool, they will be without any world class striker for 6 more games.. In this case, Liverpool would badly need a striker as his replacement and who else but Cavani, could be the one. He is as good as Suarez and will surely help Liverpool in his absence.
3. He could solve Liverpool’s problem of lack of goals.
Liverpool have just scored 24 goals in 20 games this season and even Blackburn Rover, who are the bottom of the table, have scored more goals than Liverpool. Cavani has been an excellent goal-scoring record with Napoli and has ability to regularly create goals and assists. His arrival would surely help Liverpool shrug off their poor goal-scoring record.
4. His arrival will allow Carroll to go on loan
Andy Carroll is just not good enough to start for a club like Liverpool. The England striker has been pathetic for Liverpool-no doubt about that. He needs more experience and first-team football. If Liverpool buy Cavani then they will have more attacking options and could send Carroll on loan to a top-division club. This would help both Liverpool and of course Carroll.
5. He is young and entering the prime of his career
Cavani is just 24 years old and his goal-scoring exploits clearly suggest that he is entering the prime of his career. If Liverpool want to sign the striker then this is surely the best time. He could take premier league by storm and has the ability to terrorize one defence after another. He could be Manchester City’s answer to Sergio Aguero.
