Rebirth: Week 1 A-League Preview
By Ricky Mangidis on Thu, 06/10.2011The season previews are out of the way and the playing lists of most clubs are just about finalised so it’s time to get down to business. Round 1 has thrown up two marquee matchups with the Grand Final replay and Victory-Sydney clash the highlights of the weekend.
Last season the preview had a few different formats, but it’s a variation of those that will become the layout this season. The essentials (i.e. time, coverage, date, odds) will come at you right off the top, followed by the squads, changes (obviously that isn’t applicable this week) and the unavailability list.
Then comes ‘The Lead-In’, which is basically the news around the club and anything affecting the match itself. Obviously as the season progresses this will contain lessons learned from the previous weekend whether it be from a win, loss or draw. After that is the Keys for each side, an X-Factor, a tip and a value bet.
Right, now that new readers are up to speed there is one big change for this season. Last year a fairly common point of feedback was that not everyone was interested in reading a preview of every match for the round. With that in mind, now you can choose which match(es) to read by clicking on the link/page for the specific match.
The pages will be in chronological order for the weekend, so for the people that do want to read it all they can simply cycle through the pages as they please. But on this intro page there will be a link to the page for each match, and at the bottom of every page thereafter will be links to the matches. Ignore the part where it says 'Go Back' at the end of the page. Just a page setting that needs to be fixed, in the meantime just click on the next match and it won't open a new window.
