Victory to win 2-0 tonight! Do you agree with Daniel?
By Daniel Iaconis on Fri, 03/09.2010Round 5 of the Hyundai A-League gets underway tonight with the Central Coast Mariners hosting the Melbourne Victory at Bluetongue Stadium. Both sides will go into the match level on points after the Mariners drew with Sydney at the SFS and Melbourne beat Gold Coast United 1-0 at Skilled Park in Round 4.
The Mariners will be without Argentine recruit Patricio Perez, who was handed a two-match suspension, the first of its kind, by the FFA for simulation in the game against Sydney. It leaves the Mariners with a big void to fill come game time, Perez was instrumental in last weeks draw with Sydney, coming on as a second half substitute and ultimately converting his controversial penalty. The Mariners will look to Matt Simon to try and fill that playmaker role, and Simon really needs to step up and show why he was touted as a future star not so longer ago.
Melbourne however will go into this round brimming with confidence after accounting for the Gold Coast and finally keeping a clean sheet. Melbourne will be bolstered by the news that marquee signing Ricardinho has been cleared to make his eagerly awaited debut in the Navy Blue in the crucial game against the Mariners. In more great news for Melbourne, Bill Celeski has been declared fit and will most likely regain his place in the Melbourne midfield along side Carlos Hernandez. The only down side for Melbourne is that Evan Berger will miss the game with a badly corked hamstring.
Prediction
On paper Melbourne look too strong with Michael Petkovic looking unbeatable in goals.
Melbourne 2 – Central Coast 0
