Jacobson Claims Maiden PGA Victory | Thebigtip

Fredrik Jacobson has become the seventh Swede to win on the PGA Tour after claiming victory at the Traveler's Championship in Connecticut.

Following a successful stint in Europe, Jacobson relocated to the United States in 2008, and after 188 events, the 36-year-old picked-up his first victory after American Ryan Moore bogeyed the final hole.

The victory means Jacobson moves one step closer to sealing a place at next month's Open Championship at Royal St George's. Jacobson now leads the mini money list and with a week to go, is in pole position to claim one of the spots for the third Major of the year, and the golf odds reflect this.

Jacobson has had previous success at the Kent layout, finishing in a tie for sixth last time it was held there in 2003. The Swede will fancy his chances of a strong performance in Kent and will be doing all he can to make sure he seals his place. The Open golf betting indicates he has every chance of putting in an appearance.

The Swede dedicated the win to his children after promising his daughter he would win a trophy after watching an end of season show last year.

He said: "Everybody was just hoisting trophies left and right and my middle one Emmie goes 'Daddy, why don't you have any trophies at home?'

"It's been haunting me. I've been asked so many times by the kids 'did you get a trophy this week, daddy? Did you get a trophy?'."

Jacobson has previously had three second place finishes in America and the victory means he now joins the likes of Jesper Parnevik and Henrik Stenson on the list of his countrymen to win on the PGA Tour.
