Kuchar tames wild weather to lead PGA Championship
Syndicated on Sat, 14/08.2010American Matt Kuchar made the most of a timely break in the inclement weather to grab the clubhouse lead in the second round of the USPGA Championship.
Kuchar added a 69 to his opening round of 67 to reach the halfway stage at 8-under par and leading by one shot from his countryman Nick Watney, who carded a 68.
A group of seven players, including Britain's Rory McIlroy and South Korean teenager Noh Seung-yul, were a further shot back at 5-under.
Exactly half of the 156-player field, including world number one Tiger Woods and Australians Jason Day and Michael Sim, failed to finish their second rounds after spending most of the day cooling their heels following another delayed start at the Whistling Straits course.
Almost six hours were lost on the first two days because of the thick blanket of fog rolling off Lake Michigan each morning, leaving organisers scrambling to get the last major of the year back on schedule.
Aussie hope Day stayed at 3-under after one bogey and one birdie through 12 holes, while Sim did likewise to remain at his overnight 2-under alongside compatriot Marc Leishman who picked up a shot after managing just six holes.
