Cowboys call crisis meeting
Syndicated on Thu, 19/08.2010North Queensland's nightmare season has culminated in a high-powered board meeting scheduled for Friday to determine why it has become an NRL cellar-dweller.
Club chairman Laurence Lancini this week refused to guarantee anyone's position at the club, including chief executive Peter Parr and coach Neil Henry who is two seasons into a five-year deal.
It is understood Henry's deal includes a clause to terminate the final year should he fail to get to the finals in four seasons.
"In the world we live in, nothing is guaranteed," Lancini told Rugby League Week when asked how secure Parr and other coaching staff members were.
While the Cowboys have again been ravaged by injury and suspension, their return of just five wins from 21 games could lead to an explosive board meeting.
Henry, who has failed to get the Cowboys to the finals in his two seasons since replacing Graham Murray, has had some misfortune on the field but has had a playing roster which includes Johnathan Thurston, Luke O'Donnell, Matt Bowen, Willie Mason, Aaron Payne, Willie Tonga, Carl Webb and Scott Bolton, who was considered for Queensland State of Origin selection this year.
