Josh Dugan is not going to the Roosters. In fact, Josh Dugan is going nowhere.
The hottest young player not on the open market will this week announce, despite rumours of a move to Bondi Junction, a one-year extension keeping him in Canberra until the end of 2012.
It was not the only shock development at Brookvale Oval last night - the Raiders also won.
With Ricky Stuart scouring the jobs ads, now is not a good time for any coach to be on a losing streak.
Like the one Canberra coach David Furner was on, for instance. After dropping four straight games before last night's clash with Manly, there was speculation that Kevin Rudd wouldn't be the only casualty of a putsch in the capital. But the Raiders earned a thrilling victory, easing the pressure on the likeable clipboard holder, who celebrated with news of Dugan's imminent signature.
The star was Terry Campese, who set up a try, scored one himself and kicked a 40-20 to keep his side's faint finals hopes flickering. The Sea Eagles, who could have earned a top-four spot with a win, are now in danger of falling out of the top eight pending other results from round 18.
