Warriors muscle their way past Panthers

Warriors go sixth by beating Panthers - by AAP from abc.net.au

The Warriors overcame their own sloppiness and some tough refereeing calls to secure their fourth-straight win with a courageous 12-6 NRL victory over the Panthers in Penrith on Sunday.

Hammered 11-3 in the penalty count and forced to make 70 more tackles than the Panthers thanks to plenty of dropped ball, the Warriors clung on bravely to move to sixth spot on the ladder as Penrith remained in second.

Warriors coach Ivan Cleary hailed the result as an "amazing" accomplishment and gave credit to the visitors' resolve.

"That was amazing, just tackling on our line for I don't know how long it was," he told Grandstand.

"But I said to the boys we seemed to get better and better, they showed a lot of resolve and I think they probably just think that they deserved to win.

"We got absolutely nothing today, nothing, and you can't ask for much more than [a win]."

But the Warriors coach said he would be looking into the lack of calls going his side's way.

"We were pretty confident again at half-time, [but] as it turned out [Penrith] just consistently got opportunities in the second half," he said.

"I'm going to have to find out what's happening with some of the refereeing calls because it was just like there was only one side playing there.

"It was a tough day but a great win."
