Today we will be having a look at the winners of the previous 10 Melbourne Cups and some of the lead up races they performed in. We'll then look at how we can use this information to pick a winner in this year's Cup.

Eight horses won the cup over the last 10 years with Makybe Diva taking out three. Take out the two internationals and we have 6 six local runners. Interestingly besides Makybe Diva and Efficient the other four winners have all come through the Brisbane Winter carnival in their previous campaign
