Killer & Bomber's Quaddie for rainy Rosehill, 2nd July
By Ollie Ward on Fri, 02/07.2010Horseracing in July. Slow tracks, icy temperatures, sideways rain, freezing punters and second rate horses.
If you follow the so called expert tipsters as I do, you'll know that its nigh impossible to pick a winner in the current climate.
If you're a smart punter, you'd stay away. Keep your powder dry for a few weeks and wait for Spring to be sprung and with it some quality animals.
As punters go, my IQ matches the current forcast high temperature in Melbourne, so I think I can find some winners in the Rosehill tomorrow...
Lets start with Sydney and some guesswork on the quaddie legs.
Race 5 Blues Point Hotel Handicap has s few obvious standouts, with top weight Triple Elegance sure to be a short priced favourite. Counterpane will be right next to it in betting along with Regal Banter. A couple at odds I like are Senhor Gama, who comes in 5kgs lighter than Triple Elegance, and Oopsy Doopsy who has been racing well in recent weeks and one you want to have when it wins to save any lame attempt to mask disappointment by repeating his name thereafter.
The Race 6 Civic Stakes you can throw a blanket over. Cross the "F" box in this leg of your quaddie. For the record, "F" means Field or 'F*cked if I know.
NB Only eight horses take the field, any one of which has a winning chance.
2 legs down, 2 to go...feeling pretty good about ourselves and Race 7 doesn't look too bad. Highly rated Electric Dreams drops in class and will be hard to beat on a wet track. Throw in last start winner Break Card and the top weight Visa Lisa. Meddler worth consideration too if it runs. Need to get in and get out of this leg and I think as a "one-out" Electric Dreams would be the one.
If we're alive at this stage we need to brace outselves for the heartbreaker leg, the last.
Race 8 - First box to mark: the 4. Handsupfordetroit. Seems like it hasn’t won since the Bulldog’s last flag, but it’s always around the mark and will be thereabouts again. Storm Kite comes in with a win under her belt, and a better class of horses to beat, but winning form is good form. Outside those two, it’s Snowden’s thing Juveniles and as for the quaddie wreckers, include Bart’s two lightweights, Validated and Javasea. Cash permitting, throw in any or all of 1, 7 or 12.
Killer and Bomber’s quaddie: 1-2-4-6-11/F/6/1-3-4-6-7-8-12-15-16 ($72 = 20%)
