Will Alexander Bounce Back?

Former IBF and WBO light-welterweight champion Devon Alexander will this weekend look to bounce back from his first ever defeat against Tim Bradley earlier this year. The 24-year-old will take on the big punching Argentinean Lucas Mattysse this Saturday, looking to prove he is still one of the most dangerous fighters around despite his lacklustre display against Bradley in Michigan at the start of the year. Most punters will be thinking about placing a David Haye bet right now, but this should still be a good fight.

Alexander never looked like he was in the fight against Bradley, surprising since the 24-year old went into the bout with his unbeaten record still intact. An accidental clash of heads opened up a cut on Alexander's forehead but the boxer didn't exactly put up a great fight when the referee was deciding whether to stop the bout. 

Some accused Alexander of choking on the big stage and he'll be determined to put in an impressive
performance this weekend to re-establish himself as a major challenger. Alexander has maintained that he is still one of the most dangerous fighters around and is looking to prove his critics wrong and once again unify the division

He said: "I want to show people why I was considered one of the best at 140lbs. I want those people who believed in me to know that they were not wrong."

"I am one of the most capable and dangerous fighters in the division, a former unified world champion that wants to return to the top."

While keeping an unbeaten record is always important to a fighter, losing doesn't automatically mean the end of boxer's career, especially one that started as brightly as Alexander's
