Genia Has No Doubts

By Philip Oliver on Thu, 13/10.2011

Will Genia has maintained he is full of confidence ahead of this weekend's semi-final against New Zealand, the scrum-half claiming he is in doubt that his team can progress to the final. The 23-year old has continued his fine form so far in 2011 into this World Cup, and will be one of the Aussie's key main in this weekend's clash against the All Blacks.

The Australians set up their semi-final clash against the hosts after a defensive master-class against defending champions South Africa – coming out with the 11-9 victory despite the Springboks controlling the majority of their quarter-final. The defending from the Aussies was the sort of stuff champions need to produce at times, and New Zealand will know they will have to work extremely hard to break through this weekend. Those following the Rugby World Cup betting should remember this.

Genia was a part of that side that sent the defending champions packing, and the scrum-half is in no doubt the All Blacks will be the next team to be exiting the tournament at the hands of Australia. The confident Genia believes there is more than enough talent in the squad to be able to secure their place in the final and that's why there is plenty of belief throughout the group. The Rugby 2011 World Cup betting suggest they have every right to feel this way.

"I'm 100 per cent confident. I don't know if I could be more confident," he said.

"We back each other all the way and we showed on the weekend that we can not only win through skill but also team spirit, wanting to do it for each other. For that fact alone, I have every confidence going into this game."

Reaching the final would be an even more impressive achievement, after bouncing back from a potentially campaign ruining defeat to Ireland in the group stages. Robbie Deans has managed to rally his squad since that defeat though, with the players seeming refocused after that shock result. The defeat seemed to act like a wakeup call to the squad and could well prove to be the making of this team in the long run.
