Wallabies name Turner for Springboks tour
Syndicated on Thu, 19/08.2010Wallabies coach Robbie Dean called in outside backs Lachie Turner, Nick Cummins and Pat McCabe as he finalised his squad for the two-Test tour of South Africa.
The Australian side will take a full complement of 28 players but injured trio Peter Hynes, Cameron Shepherd and Michael Hodgson will not be among them.
Winger Hynes is considered too big a risk as he continues his recovery from a long-term knee injury, while winger Shepherd and flanker Hodgson have groin injuries.
"It's always tough when players miss out but it became pretty clear in the end," Deans said.
"Essentially we finished up with the blokes who've been playing and been able to train."
The Wallabies fly out on Friday for Tri-Nations Tests against the Springboks in Pretoria on Saturday week and Bloemfontein on September 4.
