Nadal, Fed, Djok & Youz to SF

QF: 1] Rafael Nadal vs. 8] Fernando Verdasco (Head to Head - Nadal leads 11-0)

On paper, this seems to be the easiest of the Quarter Finals to predict. Rafa Nadal has cruised through the draw with such ease, and his biggest threat was taken out in the 3rd Round, that being Andy Murray. Not only that, the man he faces in the Quarter Finals, fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco is coming off a very long and thrilling five set win over another Spaniard, David Ferrer. Not only that, of the 11 matches these two have played, Verdasco has only ever taken a set or sets off Rafa in two of those matches although one of those matches was a classic. That was at the 2009 Australian Open, in the Semi Finals, Nadal won 6-4 in the 5th Set. As for this match, I think Nadal will be far too strong. Nadal in 3.

QF2: 25] Stanislas Wawrinka vs. 12] Mikhail Youzhny (Head to Head - 2-2)

This promises to be a very close match. Wawrinka is coming off a high after knocking out Andy Murray in the 3rd Round and followed it up with a five set win over American Sam Querrey. As for Youzhny, he's beaten John Isner and Tommy Robredo in his last two matches, both in four sets and of the two, appears to be the slightly fresher player. They've met once this year, that was in Miami with Youzhny winning in three sets. Wawrinka is the more talented of the two players, and beating Murray will do a world of good for him mentally, but it's physically where I think Youzhny will excel and come out the winner. Youzhny in 4.

QF3: 17] Gael Monfils vs. 3] Novak Djokovic (Head to Head - Djokovic leads 4-0)

This should be a cracker between Monfils and Djokovic. Monfils has come through the draw reasonably well after a tough 1st Round win over Robert Kendrick. Novak Djokovic also started his US Open campaign slowly but has since gained plenty of momentum. He's serving extremely well, and hitting the ball well too. They've met on four occasions, with Djokovic winning all four however three of those matches have gone the distance. I think for Monfils to win the match, he's simply got to try and dictate the points from the back of the net. Unfortunately, he's a pretty stubborn player when it comes to doing this, and thus, Djokovic will come out victorious. Djokovic in 4.
