Andy Murray put paid to David Nalbandian's 11-match winning streak with a resounding 6-2-6-2 triumph in their last-eight clash at the ATP Rogers Cup.
The British number one remains on course to defend his title after crushing the Argentinean in just one hour and nine minutes.
Nalbandian had come into the contest in red-hot form having won the ATP Legg Mason Tennis Classic last week in Washington.
He then saw off David Ferrer and Tommy Robredo on Canadian soil before coming from a set down against the fifth-seeded Robin Soderling in the last round.
However the South American simply had no answer to Murray in a surprisingly one-sided contest.
At one stage the Scot, who managed to make 67 percent of his first serves, won five games in a row in the first set to surge into a 1-0 lead.
