It seems that the latch on the Bulldogs' premiership Window of Opportunity has been secured. The window was really closed about two months ago but 'mathematical possibilities' and a win against Carlton brought new life into the debate. Not only is the window closed with the latch secured tightly but also the Teddy Whitten embossed curtains have been drawn. So what next?Does Rocket and team wait around for Brian Lake, Lindsay Gilbee, Ryan Hargrave, Ben Hudson, Daniel Cross, Will Minson and...
We go to watch sport for many reasons but poetry in action might not seem to be on the list - unless you really think about it.If we are honest, a prime reason we go to most local sporting events is to see our team win. If our friend, son or daughter is playing, it is to enjoy their prowess or to just watch them participate, grow and enjoy team sport, maybe even win. My son’s team had one win in two years playing soccer in our local league. They never gave up and persistence shone through....
Bulldogs are a puzzle or are they? Why has everyone got it so wrong about the Bulldogs? Most people would have selected them to be in their final 4, some suggesting that a play-ff for the premiership with The Woods was on the cards. How could so many be so wrong? I have a few suggestions. 1. Expectations based on last year’s form were not well placed. A finals appearance yes but final 4? The Dogs were very lucky to beat the Swans in the week before...

Poor attitude + poor team selection + player indifference = new coach.Change is needed at the kennel and the next 18 games are not likely to change anything. After the loss to Fremantle and watching the lads play Essendon and the Gold Coast, all I can say to Rodney is that they are not listening, and I am not certain you are listening to any of your other coaches.Even the president thinks so - but he won't be confirming this anytime soon. He might, if the Dogs turn 5-6 going into the last half...

This is a regular space I hope to fill on what I have heard, or made up that makes sense, regarding the AFL scene. The Sub Rule: Players are unhappy about it, clubs don’t like it. So why is it there? If the clubs run the AFL, shouldn’t they get rid of it? I have never quite understood why “the AFL†does things like an emperor and all the clubs bow and scrape. Anyway, maybe its just me.To the real stuff in footy. It is early, very early. The 'Woods have only just put the NAB Cup in the...

G'day Rodney,I know you await my articles like watching The New Chrissy Grant kick for goals. I can have them subscribed if you like. After watching last year's Preliminary and having had a cricket season of helpful discussions with my analyst, taking up yoga, drinking green tea - thanks Guy! - and walking on the beach at Parkdale, I was ready for another season. Slow build up this year, not over-trained, no big NAB Who Cares Cup to show off. I was even starting to believe some of the hype about...
